'Christmas plants' conjures images of festive poinsettias
and sweet smelling hyacinths both of which we can deliver direct to your or
your loved ones door in time for Christmas. Our poinsettias and hyacinths are
grown for us in Sussex and are really lovely plants much stronger and more
ecofriendly than the imported plants you see in the supermarkets. As
Poinsettias in particular are so popular in the last week before Christmas
please do order early to reserve your plant.
For the garden this year we have some absolutely lovely Dorset grown Camellias which will provide a splash of colour in the winter landscape. Available in 2 sizes and 3 colours; Festive Red, White and Pink these hardy plants make great gifts for gardeners wherever they live in the UK. Your Camellia will be delivered in bud or bloom with a full colour label and a choice of pot or basket and a handwritten greeting card.
As well as Christmas bays and the more traditional flowering
plants and bulbs we also deliver a whole range of more unusual plants for
christmas gifts and thank yous. This year we are really pushing quality British plants and with this in mind our 'British Bred' range will include the Poinsettias, Hyacinths and Camellias featured above as well as Dorset grown grapevines and our very own range of organic herbs and chillis peppers grown in house to soil association standards. Last year our apache chilli plants were extremely popular and so this year we have already planted plenty of these compact fruiting varieties ready for Christmas.
If you fancy something more exotic we do also do a range of citrus trees that we import from nurseries in Holland and Italy. In the depths of winter, citrus trees are one of the few
plants at their peak. In December, lemon, lime, orange, satsuma and mandarins
are all ripening on the trees and are often ready to eat by christmas - hence
the traditional satsuma in the christmas stocking! In this country they need to be protected from frost but they will do well in any bright cool room or conservatory.
If you are in any doubt as to the green fingered nature of
your friends and family you can always send them a calamondin. The easiest to
grow of all the citrus trees, these dwarf orange trees produce scented white
flowers and small quite tart orange fruit on and off throughout the year. The
fruits are good in drinks and marmalades and the trees crop so heavily they
seem to always been in either fruit or flower and sometimes both at once!
Most plants in our current selections can be ordered in
advance for Christmas by choosing a December delivery date on the order form.
However there are a few plants either that are out of season by Christmas time
or for which we are not sure we will have available just yet. If you are trying
to order a plant that we don't plan to have in stock by christmas you will not
be able to choose a December delivery date on the order form. If in any doubt
please do give us a call on 0845 226 8026 or
drop us an email.
Our last order date for Christmas 2008 is the 22nd December but
we recommend ordering earlier than that as some of our more popular plants are
in limited supply. As always, as soon as we have sold out of a particular plant
we will update the website to indicate that they are no longer available. This
means that any remaining plants we have in stock are reserved for earlier
orders.
This year Christmas Day falls on a Thursday therefore the
nearest delivery date to Christmas is 23rd December. As both the courier network and
Royal Mail get extremely busy at christmas time we recommend that you choose a date in the previous week if possible.
If you have any queries on christmas delivery services please do get in touch.
